We are seeking undergraduate level researchers in physics to
join our theory team and help us understand how to analyze and
optimize the performance of our quantum computers.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of optics,
opto-mechanical alignment, lasers, and imaging science. You would
be working closely with our Optics team in development and assembly
of optical assemblies, performing optical experiments on
breadboards, analyzing and summarizing data from experiments, and
performing analysis and/or calculations associated with the optical

Optical Engineer Intern Responsibilities
Build and test laser Beam Delivery and Imaging optics for
current and next generation Quantum Computer
Explore integrated photonics ideas for next generation Beam
Develop Zemax designs for imaging systems
Perform performance analysis and comparison of different
approaches/designs with respect to key figures of merit.
Collaborate with the larger Opto-Mechanical team and provide
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, an MS or PhD
degree in the field of Physics, Optical Science, Electrical
Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with theoretical and practical aspects of imaging and
laser optics, including micro optics
Experience with scientific programming languages or optical
simulation tools such as Matlab, Python, COMSOL, or similar
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture
Experience with optical design programs such as Code V, Zemax,
Lighttools, FRED, or similar.
Experience with Mechanical design programs such as Solid
Proven track record of achieving significant results as
demonstrated by first-authored publications

Salary Range: $59,800 - $74,600
