Concurrent HRO, an industry-leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO), is currently seeking a reliable and innovative full-time Human Resources Consultant to become a member of our growing team!

In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills, as this role is new to Concurrent HRO and will be heavily focused on delivering strategic HR expertise/recommendations to the internal organization and clients on benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, federal & state regulations, and information systems.


The Human Resources Consultant is responsible for Human Resource consultative practices. This role requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality, collaborating various departments, and providing excellent client service, while working with the organizations leadership team on internal strategic Human Resource functions.

Essential Functions

Client Functions

  1. Delivers HR expertise and makes recommendations to clients regarding benefits, compensation, employee relations, training & development, and information systems.
  2. Manages client activities and on-site visits to create and develop strong business relationships, retain clients, ensure quality service, and build revenue.
  3. Supports and assist clients with unemployment claims.
  4. Recommends, coordinates, and delivers training seminars for clients and their employees.
  5. Builds strong client relationships and provides quality service in an effort to retain client base.
  6. Informs and educates clients about Human Resources policies, procedures, performance management, and employee relations issues.
  7. Delivers presentations that meet high quality standards.
  8. Develops appropriate strategies for clients regarding employee relations, disciplinary action, operations, and performance issues.
  9. Assists clients with resolution of employee issues pertaining to leaves of absence, workers compensation, and disability accommodations.
  10. Maintains knowledge of trends and changes in Human Resources legislation, and conveys local, state, and federal laws to clients to maintain compliance.
  11. Assist in orientations and Onboarding/ Annual Enrollment meetings for clients. Understands details of benefit and insurance plans related to the PEO / co-employment relationship.
  12. Advises the client on issues regarding Section 125, healthcare, and retirement plans.
  13. Partners with other Human Resource team members, Benefits, Sales, and Operations to ensure client satisfaction.
  14. Conducts HR Assessments to determine client needs.
  15. Supports clients by working with outside legal counsel to ensure compliance.
  16. Performs in-depth client investigations and communications with outside legal counsel to mitigate client liability.
  17. Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Internal Functions

  1. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  2. Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  3. Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the internal organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, company culture, and retention.
  4. Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements internal policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  5. Administers or oversees the administration of internal human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  6. Identifies internal staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  7. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  8. Drives technology upgrades, vetting potential technology systems, and implementation of technology systems in order to increasing efficiency, effectiveness of processes and procedures for clients and internal use.
  9. Monitors and ensures the internal organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  10. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to internal leadership team and clients to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources.
  11. Develops and implements departmental budget.
  12. Maintains confidential internal personnel files and personnel actions.
  13. Performs other internal duties as assigned.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Due to the pandemic, the Human Resource Consultant will be partially remote and expected to return to the office to fulfill specific duties and/or conducting client visits (e.g. investigations, training, resolving employee relation issues, terminations, etc.).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, talk and hear.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and may vary depending on client demand. May require nights/weekends.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  1. Bachelors diploma or equivalent required in Business, including Administration or Human Resources Management.
  2. 5+ years of Human Resource Consultant experience.
  3. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  4. Excellent customer service skills.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  8. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  10. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  11. Proven record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  12. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  13. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  14. Ability to excel at working in the Human Resource Department as a team member, and coach Human Resource Department as a supervisor.
  15. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  16. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  1. Masters degree in Business, including Administration or Human Resources Management, a plus.
  2. Certification in PHR or SPHR, a plus.
  3. Certification in SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, a plus.
  4. Experience in the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry, a plus.
