Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.The Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control (WFCRC) team is responsible for the coordination, oversight and execution of Wholesale Banking's commitments to key internal and external stakeholders as it relates to the management of financial crimes risk within Wholesale Bank. This team will partner with the front lines including risk and compliance and operations; Independent Risk Management function such as Enterprise Financial Crimes Risk Management and Enterprise Testing & Validation (T&V); as well as Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS) to advocate and ensure alignment in scope, purpose, expectations and execution of the Wholesale Financial Crimes Program. The team will achieve this through a focus on strong communication, strategic planning, thoughtful and meaningful tracking/reporting, and timely escalation.The WFCRC's Audit and Exam team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, forward-thinking Business Risk & Control Associate. The Business Risk & Control Associate will help provide first point of contact on requests related to the Wholesale Financial Crimes program. Specifically, the Business Risk & Control Associate will help review/oversee interactions with our line of defense testing partners (US and outside of US) to ensure requests are being worked with the proper business partners and deliverables are compliant not only with BSA/AML regulations but also regulatory expectations. Duties will include serving as a liaison and assessment of critical materials that support reviews with our testing and exam partners. The position will facilitate connections with multiple functional teams and would have the added complexity of understanding varied business domains and their associated business leads. This position interacts with senior leadership and major stakeholders to gather and communicate progress of T&V, audit and exam work across the Wholesale Bank related to financial crimes risk management. The Business Risk & Control Associate must be organized, detail oriented, able to build a resource network through strong interpersonal and verbal skills. Key success criteria will be the ability to manage diverse relationships and foster a collaborative team dynamic with our testing partners and other stakeholders. At its core, this role is focused on providing BSA/AML expertise and credible challenge.Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 1+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

    Other Desired Qualifications
    • Financial Crimes Compliance, Regulatory, Public Accounting and/or Wholesale Business experience a plus
    • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner by leveraging creativity and problem solving skills
    • Must be a proactive self-starter who values personal accountability and thrives under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment
    • Proven track record of prioritization and follow up skills, and meeting deadlines with quality deliverables
    • Strong documentation and communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
    • Familiarity with Cornerstone and/or CRMS experience a plus
    • Ability to analyze data and connect the dots, making recommendations to management and the project teams in a timely manner
    • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization and to work effectively in a team environment
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

      • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

        The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
