program participants. PURPOSE OF POSITION: A Cook at Catholic
Charities: Prepares and/or directs others in all aspects of meal
preparation. Executes and maintains an efficient, economical and
nutritious food service program for the shelter. Receives and
supervises the food donations and makes arrangements for the
storage of food products and other materials necessary to the food
service operations. Assists with food production and presentation
of daily menu items and special events. Monitors that only the
highest standard of quality is maintained in the production of the
daily meals. Monitors that all kitchen sanitation and safety
regulations are observed at all times. Monitors costing of needed
raw materials. Monitors portion control, waste and maintains
appropriate levels of needed inventory. Oversees and assists in
training of volunteers Drives Agency van to designated sites to
pick up, load/unload and deliver food supplies. Supports, promotes
and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code
of Ethics. Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all
persons with dignity and respect. Maintains confidentiality of
client and agency information. Regular and predictable attendance.
Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service
delivery. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the food
service coordinator in negotiating competitive pricing of needed
goods and services from established vendors. Good steward of Agency
human, financial and capital resources Provides support to the
shelter staff as requested Participates effectively as a team
member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and
problem solving. Participates in staff trainings and programs as
required. Any other tasks or duties as assigned. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS Institutional and restaurant experience as well as a
good working knowledge of commercial food preparation and
production standards including sanitation safety standards. Good
working knowledge of all commercial grade kitchen equipment. The
ability to be able to function independently and maintain
self-sufficiency with minimal supervision. Express excellent
interpersonal communication skills, flexibility and willingness to
shift priorities as needed. Knowledge of the service population’s
cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate
techniques and practices for the client population. Ability to
interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency
staff and with a diverse client base. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one
to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary: $22.00. Full-time shift, 40 hours per week. Training: We
provide a robust training curriculum that will support our

Trafficking; Trauma Informed Care; and many more. Benefits: In

included.) Sabbatical Leave Program: Employees who have completed
seven years of continuous full-time service are eligible for a paid
sabbatical leave to support rest, renewal, and professional or
personal growth. Eligible staff may take 4 weeks of sabbatical
leave. Sign on bonus of $500 after 30 days of successful employment
in the Kitchen. Retention bonus $500 every 6 months for all Kitchen
employees in good standing. 403b Retirement Plan with Agency
contribution of 4% & match up to 2% of annual compensation. Choice
of 3 PPO Medical Plans (90% of employee's and 75% of dependent’s
premiums is paid by Agency), Dental, & Vision starting the 1st day
of the month following start date. May be eligible for Public
Service Loan Forgiveness through Federal Student Loans and many
more benefits. Part-time employees (20-29 hours per week) also
receive paid annual leave, company paid holidays, and 403b
