Typical patients include: - Pre and post cardiac procedures - Heart catheterizations (radial and femoral) - Cardioversions performed on the floor - Post-thoracotomy patients (directly from PACU) - CABG patients approximately 24 hours post-op - Stent placements and post PCI patients - NSTEMI patients - Vascular procedures - Tracheostomy patients - Home ventilators - BiPAP or CPAP - Chest tubes Note: Pacer wires are usually removed in the ICU. Required Skills and Experience Required experience includes: - Pre and post stent care - Pacemaker patients - ICD patients - Pre and post CABG care - Vascular procedure recovery Preference is given to nurses with stepdown experience rather than basic telemetry experience. IV Drips Some drips are titratable while others are not. Common titratable drips: - Cardizem - Amiodarone - Nitroglycerin - Integrelin Non-titrated drips: - Dobutamine - Dopamine Respiratory Equipment Equipment used on the unit includes: - BiPAP - CPAP - Home ventilators Home ventilator experience is not required.
