The Role
Interacts with Architecture (IP and Security), Planning,
Operations, Lab, Systems (NSD, alarming) to implement equipment and
designs necessary to evolve the worldwide Internet backbone.
Ability to research, write requirements to test hardware and
software to ensure interoperability and validation of features,
functions and behavior.
Applies advanced engineering and network principles, theories,
concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and
issues
Interacts and drives vendor requirements, resolution of bug fixes,
code upgrades, and vendor development as necessary
Resolves difficult production/interoperability problems by working
with cross functional teams and applying advanced engineering and
network principles, theories and concepts
Regarded as a subject matter expert and may act as a technical
project lead or provide leadership for lower level employees
Self-motivated with problem solving capabilities, sense of urgency
and accountability
The Main Responsibilities
Software Development with strong Systems Engineering interest. The
position will maintain old tools as well as architect and develop
tools/systems for the future. Much of the current toolset is
written in PERL. While being able to read PERL is essential, there
is absolutely no requirement to stay with PERL. New development
will be within a small team with frequent contact with other
developer and operations teams. The position requires design,
coding and testing skills.

Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's
primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top
of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's
qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$94420 - $118028 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC,
and SD.
$99390 - $124230 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO,
MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$104360 - $130448 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR,
and RI.
$109330 - $136665 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA,
NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a
country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as
experience, education, skills, certifications and other business
needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for
this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums
may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills,
experience and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales
compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for
