Job Description Description North Metro Fire Rescue District is
now recruiting for the exciting position of Community Risk
Reduction Specialist. This position has been posted to both
internal and external candidates. To be considered for this

on November 14, 2025. Under the general supervision of the
Community Risk Reduction Lead, this position is responsible for
implementing and presenting programs, information, and resources to
reduce risk and enhance safety and health in the community. With
guidance and direction from the Community Risk Reduction Lead, the
CRR Specialist presents and helps coordinate medical and supportive
care options and programs in accordance with the Collaborative
Health Program for community members requiring assistance outside
the general scope of first responders. The position utilizes
incident data, generated from the Planning Captain, and guidance
from the CRR Lead to deliver programs to systematically reduce
social, community, and fire protection issues that contribute to a
significant percentage of the district's emergency calls. The
individual works under the general direction of the CRR Lead and
may also assist with community outreach efforts, including but not
limited to public education, social media content development,
event coordination, media relations, and general fire district
marketing. 2025 Full Salary Range: $83,703 to $113,036 annually.
2025 Hiring range: $83,703 to $98,369. Pay is commensurate with
applicable experience and qualifications. This position typically
follows a Monday–Friday schedule and requires additional hours to
support special events or programs as needed. North Metro Fire

all-inclusive or restrictive. Community Risk Reduction and Public
Education Ensures CRR programs are accessible by all residents
within the fire district. Provides individual consultations and
utilizes education and community resources to address high-risk,
high-use populations within the fire district to reduce their risk
of injury and fire and the need for emergency services. At the
direction of the Community Risk Reduction Lead and in cooperation
with the EMS Division, coordinates the connection of patients
experiencing unmet needs with appropriate community resources,
co-responder programs, and healthcare systems. Delivers community
programs and education, based on community risk data and national
fire and life safety trends, to help prevent emergencies and
improve overall health and safety for citizens. Assists Life Safety
Education Officer with presenting programs on fire and life safety
to a variety of public and private sector groups, schools and
senior facilities. Programs should encompass behavioral objectives,
lesson plans, informational materials, and evaluation instruments.
Assists the Life Safety Education Officer with delivering the fire
district’s educational programs, including CPR/AED and Stop the
Bleed, Child Car Seat Safety Inspections, Youth Fire Setter
Intervention Program, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program,
School Fire Drill Program, Business Evacuation Program, File of
Life Program, and other educational programs. Maintains a current
understanding of innovative approaches to community safety.
Effectively maintains communication and fosters collaboration
between fire district and all public safety and community outreach
partners within the jurisdiction. Assists with coordinating
community events and program requests so that all activities are
scheduled and personnel assigned without conflict. Community
Outreach and External Communications CRR Specialist may be expected
to participate in on-call PIO program, fulfilling duties when
primary PIO is unavailable, and may assist PIO with events and
communications. Stays apprised of the latest communication tools
and methods used to reach and engage audiences. May be required to
assist Life Safety Education Officer and staff special events
throughout the fire district under the guidance of the Community
Risk Reduction Lead. Several community events occur during the
evening and on weekends, and the Community Risk Reduction
Specialist must be able to work a flexible schedule to support the
events. Prepares professional written reports, correspondence, and
memorandums. Promotes the District’s mission and value statements.
All employees shall take an active role in improving overall
organizational performance, especially as related to community
outreach and risk reduction, internal and external collaboration,
and optimization of District resources. Maintains a positive
attitude and works well with other team members. Maintains
compliance with HIPAA, mandatory reporting, federal, state, and
local and District confidentiality laws, employment laws and
regulations. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education – Associate’s degree with coursework in education,
communications, program development, public health, nursing or fire
science. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, EMT Basic/Paramedic, or
other medical or behavioral health certification. Experience – Must
have a minimum of five years of professional work experience as an
EMT, paramedic, public fire and life safety education specialist,
community risk reduction specialist, public information officer, OR
community health or medical provider. Any equivalent combination of
education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform
the necessary essential functions of the job may be considered.
